Archa Theatre International Summer School 2018
Theatre in Social Context / 25 August – 7 September 2018

In late August and early September, the Archa Theatre will again transform into a large laboratory of contemporary theatre. The basic principle of the Summer School is teaching based on shared experience and respect for the independent creative personality of the artist. Twenty-three students from the Netherlands, Norway, Lithuania, Ireland, China, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Austria, Vietnam, Slovenia, Serbia and the Czech Republic will take part in the summer schools this year.
Students have the opportunity to explore and develop practical tools for documentary theatre. The subjects of their interest are video art, sound design, interview as the basis of dramatic text, object as story source, spatial improvisation and light as space. Practical ateliers led by experienced artists in the given fields are contextually complemented by exclusive lectures by foreign and domestic guests. In the short term, students gain intense experience of theatrical production in professional theatre conditions.

What are we about:
The International Summer School of Theatre in Social Context  cooperates with individuals, cultural organizations and educational institutions. It's about interconnecting related free learning systems, and we are also building a creative network of artists with a similar philosophy of theatrical creation.
Students come back:
Based on the final performances, summer school graduates can apply for a short-term residency in Archa.lab in the following year. The residency serves to develop their new projects. Each residency ends with a public presentation and debate.
In 2018, residencies at Archa.lab were obtained by: Sahar Rezaei from Iran, Joana de Brito Silva from Portugal, Christa van Rijn from the Netherlands and Cliona O'Connell from Ireland.
