Jan Mocek — Fatherland

theatre

The visual performance Fatherland combines elements of video installation, documentary and theatre. Director Jan Mocek based it on intimate and multi-layered situations: he meets on the stage with this 34 years older father Jan Mocek. The same name and remarkable physical similarity of both men is an impulse to play with the theme of identity, in which the presence of the father transforms into the future of the son. Besides the personal, documentary level, the performance also contains a political dimension. The subject of masculinity is examined in a male family against the background of the disintegration and re-inventing of our Czech individual and collective identity.
