The avant-garde lives!

"When you kill our brother, you kill us too."

A musically dramatic composition based on extant texts and a score by E.F. Burian. War was first performed in 1935 by E.F. Burian in the D35 Theatre. The last time Burian returned to it was in 1954. Only fragments have been performed since then and due to the incredibly difficult acting challenge and vocal score no one has attempted to stage the entire production. It is one of the most interesting dramatic achievements based on folk poetry in the Czech Republic. Burian's War was created by director Jaroslava Šiktancová with choreographer Martin Pacek as the first production of BodyVoiceBand. The demanding text and vocal score this time will be heard at the place where it was last staged 65 years ago.
