Thematic evening and renewed premiere of Respect in the Archa Theatre
How does fear work and what causes it? How to resist hateful fearmongering and avoid succumbing to easy solutions? Do the mechanisms of fear in our society work better than personal duty, solidarity and compassion for people in need? The Archa Theatre and Respekt magazine invite everyone to an evening Against Fear!
The Against Fear! evening will begin with a performance by ten volunteers who on their own decided to help people in need. In doing so, they have perhaps unwittingly become the only representatives of a positive image of the Czech Republic at home and abroad. What motivates them and what are their expectations? How do they see the situation on the southern borders of Europe? What measures would they recommend?
An unexpected combination of guests, surprising topics and current events. The well-respected weekly magazine Respekt has a long tradition of collaboration with the Archa Theatre. The pilot debates in the renewed series of discussion evenings as part of the Against Fear! evening will feature Respekt journalist Tomáš Lindner, who has long been reporting on the refugee crisis, and Markéta Kutilová, humanitarian worker and independent journalist reporting from conflict zones such as Congo and Syria, as well as Member of Parliament and expert on security policy Ivan Gabal. Psychotherapist Jan Šikl will talk about the origins of and reasons for fear. The evening will be moderated by Erik Tabery.
The evening will conclude with a concert by the Allstar Refjúdží Band in the small auditorium of the Archa Theatre. Photographs and reports by young documentary makers will be on display in the foyer. The voluntary entrance fee will be donated to the Organization for Aid to Refugees (www.opu.cz)
