Two worlds on one planet

Prague in 1908, and the territory of the Chamacoco Indian tribe in the Paraguayan rainforest. Traveller and cactus hunter Frič, and the South American Indian Cherwuish. There are no worlds further apart. There’s only one freedom though. And the struggle for it can be just as highly charged whether the opponent is wild and often cruel nature, or a rigid and hypocritical society without any imagination.

The adventures of this picaresque duo as a source of Hašek’s playful humour, as well as a message about the need to recognise otherness. To get to know it, but without changing it irreversibly. Still, when travelling to another world, there’s always the risk that a completely different person will return home. And where, actually, do the boundaries of our ‘home’ lie?

An exploration of the roots of our ideas about our own level of development.
