Jacob Kirkegaard
One of Denmark’s most prominent composers has been exploring, for three decades, the diverse soundscapes of this world. In his latest conceptual works he isn’t scared to go from fire to ice, from nuclear power plants into the inside of the human ear. This is all using both hi-tech and homemade technology. In one of his latest pieces of work, Opus Mors, which he will debut live for the first time at Festival Alternativa, he creates in four sections an environment meant for collective contemplation and meditation on the state of the human body right after death – in morgue, during autopsy, cremation and decay.

NYX
Radical improvisation – can serve as the description of the work of international women trio NYX, which in dynamic performances offers disquieting and dark stories. Sophie Agnel, Angélica Castelló and Isabelle Duthoit make use of their formal musical education to explore the limits of current experimental music. Piano, electronics, brass instruments, and voice create abrasive contours and sound spaces demanding audience concentration, while also rewarding the listeners with fresh sound collages.
Maria W Horn
Swedish composer Maria W Horn oscillates between soulful minimalism and explosive sonic extremes. Her live performances are not lacking in the dynamic or the atmospheric. On her penultimate album, Kontrapoetik, she reflects on political conflicts and exorcisms by using bold classical orchestration and purely original song construction. On her latest album Epistas, however, she takes on a more delicate, almost neoclassicistic approach.
