The current blues scene only has a few really strong personalities who are able to go beyond the genre framework. One of them is undoubtedly Keb’ Mo’, an excellent American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who has been addressing audiences across the musical spectrum for a quarter of a century. Although he likes to experiment with different accompaniment variations from electric band to symphony orchestra, both experts and fans agree that he is most powerful solo. And that is how he will perform at this year’s Bluefest on July 16 in Prague’s Archa Theater. Due to the seating arrangement with only a few places to stand, the concert will have very limited capacity.

The Prague concert of Keb’ Mo’, who is a master of all kinds of acoustic and electric guitars, including resophonic instruments, and also an excellent singer, will be an extraordinary meeting with a contemporary and still very creative personality of the blues scene.

The evening will be opened by a performance by the Austrian blues singer Ripoff Raskolnikov, one of the most distinctive figures of the Central European blues scene. In his work he follows up on the roughest representatives of interwar blues—Robert Johnson, Skip James or Blind Willie McTell. But—just like his more famous colleague Keb’ Mo’—he insists on not copying his models. Instead, he uses their potential to enrich his own unmistakable expression.
