one-day Archa.lab workshop
Motto: Until a reason to move appears, don't move! (Bertold Brecht)
A workshop designed for theatre professionals and for everyone who sees theatre as a form of free expression.
This one-day workshop by Jana Svobodová is based on the viewpoints technique. Through simple exercises, participants in the workshop will become familiar with terms like "extraordinary listening", "soft focus", "spatial relationship" and "duration". On the basis of clear and comprehensible steps, the viewpoints system builds a glossary important for personal and natural expression of the actors on stage. In addition to a series of theatre techniques focussing on work with space, gesture, partner and text, an important aspect is cultivation of the ability to see, hear and be seen.
Jana Svobodová is a theatre director. Since 2004 she has been creating projects that focus on cooperation between professional artists and representatives of specific social groups. Her most recent performance Ordinary People (2017) was created together with Chinese choreographer and founder of the Living Dance Studio Wen Hui. She is the artistic director of the Akcent International Festival of Documentary Theatre. In 2007 the Theatre Institute published her translation of Viewpoints by American theatre reformer and director Anne Bogart.
