As four culturally disparate women, Kadınlar are coming back together in the name of fearless experimentation. Encouraging one another to explore their own individual narratives, the group will tackle concepts of unruly femininity; whatever form that may take. Unrestrained rebellion, fear, rage, ecstasy and hysteria are all components that make the force of womanhood one to be reckoned with. Imperative to their practice is incorporating text, image and sound; bringing a sense of playfulness and humour into the carefully crafted space.

Kadınlar met at Archa’s International Summer School in 2017. After spending the first half of their time at the theatre in separate ateliers, the four women naturally moved towards each other after discussing their interests and inspirations, workshopping a short work-in-progress ‘Ščegetavček’. Here they attempted to navigate the distinct variations between public and private perceptions of womanhood, with a heavy focus on texts explored through manufactured soundscapes, generating twisted versions of combined realities.
