Prague Music Performance, in collaboration with the Archa Theatre, will present the unique project Hommage à Anthony Braxton on October 10, 2021.
American experimental composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton will present his new ensemble Diamond Curtain Wall Trio at the Archa Theatre, starring the experimental American accordionist, singer and composer Adam Matlock and Portuguese trumpeter Susanna Santos Silva.
In the first part of the evening, the 40-member Ensemble Radost will perform under the direction of the Swiss composer Roland Dahinden, who present key Braxton compositions. The ensemble features leading performers of the Czech jazz scene, such as Radim Hanousek, Pavel Hrubý, Michal Wróblewski, Jan Jirucha, Ian Mikyska and others.
Anthony Braxton is considered one of the most important musicians, educators and creative thinkers of the last fifty years. He enjoys great respect in the experimental music community for his groundbreaking qualities, as well as his mentoring and inspiration for generations of young musicians. With the significance of his work, he joined the exceptional improvisers Warne Marsh, John Coltrane, Paul Desmond, Ornett Coleman and Albert Ayler, and composers Charles Ives, Harry Partch and John Cage.
